Zhuo Yihang was raised by Taoist Ziyang of the Wudang School and trained to be a chivalrous swordsman. He is tasked with uniting a coalition of the eight major orthodox martial arts schools to counter a dangerous gypsy cult.
During a fierce clash with the cult, Lian Nichang crosses paths with him and, despite their different paths, they fall in love. She is an orphan who was raised by wolves before being adopted by Ji Wushuang, the conjoined-twin leaders of the cult. After they consummate their romance, Lian Nichang decides to forsake the cult and pursue a quieter life alongside him, away from the rigid codes of the martial world.
Lian Nichang manages to leave the cult, a victory achieved through great pain and sacrifice. Meanwhile, Zhuo Yihang returns to the rugged embrace of Wudang Mountain and is horrified to find that his fellow clan members have been murdered. The coalition members jump to the conclusion that Lian Nichang bears the blame, and they attack her as she comes to meet Zhuo Yihang. Caught between love and duty, Zhuo Yihang is forced to turn against Lian Nichang.
Devastated by the betrayal, Lian Nichang transforms into a fearsome white-haired killer and slays the coalition members who stand in her way. In a shocking twist, Ji Wushuang appears and reveals that he/she is actually the true killer behind the Wudang deaths. The revelation shifts the balance of power, and Zhuo Yihang and Lian Nichang unite to defeat and kill Ji Wushuang. Yet even in victory, Lian Nichang vows never to forgive Zhuo Yihang, walking away as he watches, powerless to change the outcome of a love cut short.
Years later, in a remote mountain region, Zhuo Yihang tends to a rare flower said to bloom only once every few decades and has the power to reverse aging by turning white hair back to its natural dark color. He clings to the hope that the flower might heal the rift he caused, waiting for the person he loves to return.
