Spoilers ahead
In southern Mexico at the turn of the 20th century, stories circulate about cattle and farmers vanishing near a place called Hollow Mountain, a region wrapped in superstition and danger. The mountain itself has never been explored, and the swamp at its base is said to claim the lives of anyone foolhardy enough to tread its banks. Against this backdrop, an American cowboy Jimmy Ryan leads his business partner Felipe Sanchez Carlos Rivas and their worker Manuel Jos Chávez into the area in a bid to locate lost cattle. They split up to cover more ground, hopeful but cautious, as the swamp’s rumors nag at them.
