Former U.S. Army major Paul Krenner James Griffith plans to conquer the world with an army of invisible soldiers and will do anything to achieve that goal. With the help of his hired thug Julian Boyd ‘Red’ Morgan, Krenner forces Dr. Peter Ulof Ivan Triesault to perfect the invisibility machine that Ulof invented, showing no hesitation in using coercion. He imprisons Ulof’s daughter Maria Cormel Daniel to ensure Ulof’s full compliance, turning a family crisis into a tool of terror.
The scarce nuclear materials needed to advance the invisibility project are tightly guarded in government facilities, making them the key to Krenner’s bid for power. To obtain them, he engineers the prison break of the notorious safecracker Joey Faust Douglas Kennedy, assigning him to carry out the theft while staying invisible. Faust agrees, driven by the promise of wealth, but his loyalty is precarious from the start. He voices grievances about working for Krenner, and Krenner makes his stance clear: Faust is wanted dead or alive, and his life is expendable if he proves inconvenient.
Faust reluctantly accepts the mission, and the plot thickens when he crosses paths with Laura Matson Marguerite Chapman, Krenner’s female accomplice. A slow, dangerous charm blossoms as Faust’s initial hostility softens, pulling Laura into a covert double cross. The relationship adds a twist to the theft plan, embedding a personal risk into a scheme already stretched to the breaking point.
As Faust presses forward, the possibility of escape lingers, even under the veil of invisibility. Yet progress stalls when tragedy strikes in Ulof’s laboratory: the test guinea pig dies, and during a second attempt at invisibility, Faust involuntarily flips between visible and invisible in a troubling, unpredictable pattern. The haunting instability of the power they’re playing with becomes a constant reminder of what is at stake.
Despite the growing danger, Faust remains determined to break free from Krenner’s control, even as the odds tighten around him. Dr. Ulof eventually reveals a chilling truth: both of them are being poisoned by radiation as a side effect of the very invisibility device they are pushing to perfection. This shared fate shifts the dynamic from control to desperation, and Ulof urges Faust to thwart Krenner’s plan before it can unleash catastrophe.
In a climactic confrontation set amid a claustrophobic lab, Faust and Krenner clash in a struggle that fuses science with raw ambition. The fight culminates in an accidental nuclear explosion that destroys both men and finally halts Krenner’s bid for world domination. The shell of a grand scheme collapses, leaving behind the grim reminder of how far some will go when curiosity, power, and a thirst for dominance intersect.
