The Adventures of a Good Citizen (1937): Cast & Box Office

Early promotional material calls the film a “lyrical bounce from reality,” not a “senseless extravagance.” The story follows an official who, warned “There will be a hole in the sky even if you go back,” joins a procession of two people with a wardrobe and a crowd chanting “Down with walking backwards” to defend established rules. The film uses trick shots, mirrors, photographs and negatives for a surreal visual style.
