Terrorism Considered as One of the Fine Arts (2009): Cast

Adapting its title from Thomas De Quincey’s murder text, Peter Whitehead returns to narrative cinema with a psycho‑geographic study of contemporary Vienna. The film records the city’s subversive underbelly while offering a poetic meditation on conspiracy, ecoterrorism, time and cinema, echoing The Third Man. Based on Whitehead’s Nohzone novel trilogy, the line between objective and subjective blurs as the director merges with a fictional detective, exploring covert counter‑insurgency, Noh theatre, Victorian literature, post‑war Vienna, opium, domain names and a Jacob’s ladder motif.
