A drop of sunlight falls from the sky and gives birth to a magical flower with the power to heal. For generations, the enigmatic figure known as Gothel uses this flower’s magic to stay young, guarding it carefully. When soldiers from the kingdom of Corona seize the flower, they use it to save their ailing, pregnant queen, and a baby named Rapunzel is born with hair that carries the flower’s healing magic. Yet Gothel, cunning and protective, slips into the castle, cuts a lock of Rapunzel’s hair, and discovers that the magic is tied to the girl herself—the moment the strand is severed, the magic vanishes.
