Sgt. Michael Ransom [Brent Huff] leads a small unit of “Strike Commandos” as they infiltrate a Vietnamese base with explosives in mind, while Major Vic Jenkins [Richard Harris] and Colonel Radek supervise from a nearby vantage point. A sentry’s alert quickly erupts into chaos when the patrol is spotted, and the mission’s tension spikes as Radek orders the charges to be detonated even as the commandos fall back. The blast rips through the base, killing a soldier and flinging Ransom into a river, leaving him battered but alive.

A village boy discovers the wounded officer and nurses him back to health. Ransom soon learns that Soviet forces are operating covertly in Vietnam, and he vows to protect the villagers and spirit them to safety, wherever that may be. With a radio still clinging to life from a decomposed soldier, Ransom reaches out to his home base, telling Radek not only that he’s alive but where he might be rescued. He also warns that the Strike team demands justice and vengeance, a message that prompts a helicopter to be dispatched to retrieve him.

The journey continues as the group battles the river crossing and a coordinated attack by a patrol boat and Viet Cong fighters. They gain a temporary edge with the help of Le Due, a retired French soldier who has spent years in the village, as Ransom and his companions destroy the boat and fend off the VC assault. But the retreat is costly: Le Due is killed by a Soviet soldier, and Ransom discovers a torn Soviet patch among the fallen, a grim symbol of the broader threat they face. With the Soviets feverishly hunting for the villagers, Ransom fights back, taking down enemies as the odds grow ever heavier and the need to retreat becomes clear.

Ransom orders the helicopter to pull back to base, yet his superior insists on one last push to safety. He eventually agrees to be extracted but then volunteers to return, intent on photographing the base to provide undeniable proof of Soviet presence in Vietnam. The mission drives him deeper into danger, and in Vietnam he finds the villagers massacred. A single clue points to Jakoda, a Soviet soldier, and a crude mugging of a Viet Cong fighter reveals Jakoda’s location, fueling Ransom’s rage.

Driven by vengeance, Ransom unloads a stolen machine gun on the village, and Jakoda’s forces close in. When Jakoda captures a civilian and rallies to force surrender, the Soviets tighten their grip on him, and Ransom endures days of torture before he feigns a collapse and broadcasts a demoralizing radio message. The ruse buys him time to turn the tables, and he ultimately defeats his captors, seizing Jakoda’s girlfriend Olga as a hostage and using her as bait to whittle down the enemy. A tense chase follows as Radek’s helicopter returns; Olga is killed by the craft, and Ransom narrowly survives.

In a brutal culmination, Ransom blows up an army boat and challenges Jakoda in a final clash by the shore. He forces Jakoda into a perilous defeat over a waterfall, leaving him dead and the threat finally extinguished. Back at base, Ransom erupts at Radek’s empty office, and the confrontation reveals a larger truth about the chain of command and the true reach of the Soviet presence.

Radek goes rogue, vanishing into Manila’s shadows to become an importer/exporter, while Ransom stalks the halls of a Manila office building with a grenade, cutting down everyone who stands in his way. He locates Radek and ends him with a final grenade blast. In a last, savage twist, Ransom corners Jakoda, who now wears metal teeth from their earlier duel. He plants a grenade in Jakoda’s mouth, and the ensuing explosion rips through the room, leaving only the metallic teeth as a grim souvenir of the battle.
