Through his voice and cadence, he keeps company with late nevers and night workers, offering a simple philosophy of life that rejects monotony and leans into fun, sometimes bending the rules and stirring up a few romantic echoes along the way. His outlook is shared by his close circle of student friends and by his father, who runs a cinema that screens pornographic films. Together, they chase variety, laughter, and small, rebellious thrills in the margins of daily life.

Together with his companions, Lorenzo drifts through the city after hours, turning ordinary streets into stages for jokes, mischief, and the occasional unexpected adventure. The group includes his student friends, a taxi driver Remo Quaranta and a pianist Alex, alongside his father, Novello Novello, who manages a cinema where explicit films are shown. In this crew, the night feels like a shared playground where loyalty, wit, and a certain carefree audacity shape every outing.

One rainy night, as Lorenzo ferries his pal’s taxi through the damp streets, he meets Anna, a striking woman who is in Genoa only to buy a wedding dress before returning to Verona, where her fiancé awaits. Yet the encounter quickly forges a connection that feels electric and impossible to ignore. The two spend nearly all of Anna’s short stay together, navigating a delicate balance between attraction and repulsion that nonetheless grows deeply and intensely.

Anna’s plans to leave are delayed twice when she misses the return train, and only on the third attempt does she finally prepare to depart again, after sharing another night of intimacy with Lorenzo. A few days later, when the dust seems to settle on a finished story, Anna returns and chooses to be with him, embracing his wild, messy, and utterly candid lifestyle rather than walking away. The city’s nocturnal pulse continues to beat for them, a testament to a connection that endures beyond the moment and invites both to reimagine what love and life can look like in the midst of chaos.
