In the town of Chanderi, a chilling legend looms over everyday life: Stree, a vengeful spirit who abducts men during a four‑day festival, leaving behind only their clothes. To keep safe, the locals carve O Stree Kal Aana on their walls, and men stay inside after 10 PM, hoping the night will pass without anyone else vanishing.

The story follows Vicky, a skilled tailor who meets a mysterious woman who asks him to stitch a lehenga. He is drawn to her, even as his friend Bittu grows uneasy about her irregular presence and the town’s strange quietness. When their friend Jana is abducted, Vicky’s suspicions harden, and he, along with Bittu and the librarian Rudra, digs into the legend to uncover its truth.

Their search leads them to a partially burnt manuscript titled Chanderi Puran, which reveals that Stree was once a beautiful courtesan who truly loved a man but was murdered by men in the town before she could marry him. Believing her spirit still lingers near a nearby fort, the trio ventures there and encounters Stree. The enigmatic woman, claiming to have lost someone to Stree and having spent years trying to stop her, tries to shield the town from the legend.

After they rescue Jana and bring him home, they notice his behavior shift; he erases the protective wall inscriptions, allowing more abductions to occur. They seek guidance from Shastri Vijay Raaz, the book’s author, who prophesies that a man born under an oak tree to a courtesan will defeat Stree. Rudra hints that Vicky might be the chosen one, revealing that his own mother was a courtesan; after confirming this with his father, he decides to embrace the destiny laid before him.

With a plan to trap Stree, the group lures her toward Vicky. But the spirit abducts him again and takes him to her lair, where Vicky begins to understand her longing for love and respect. The unnamed woman Shraddha Kapoor urges him to sever Stree’s power—her braid. He does so, and Stree dissipates. The next day, the town gathers to celebrate while Vicky says farewell to the woman, still unsure of her name. As she boards a bus and leaves, she ties Stree’s braid to her own, hinting at a possible wish to wield Stree’s abilities herself.

A year later, Stree returns to Chanderi but finds a statue raised in her honor bearing the phrase O Stree Raksha Karna (transl. “O Stree, protect us”), prompting her to depart peacefully.

In a memorable moment, Nora Fatehi makes a brief cameo during the song “Kamariya,” adding a lively sparkle to the film’s eerie mood while the central mystery remains focused on the relationship between love, fear, and the town’s stubborn legends.
