Story of the Unknown Soldier (1932): Cast

Storck spent 1928 watching newsreels from the year the Kellogg‑Briand Pact outlawed war, then edited them with 1932 footage to contrast that hopeful utopia with looming threats—rising nationalism, police brutality, aggressive colonialism and bellicose politics. The rapid, sarcastic montage pairs earnest speeches and parades with slow‑motion collapsing factory chimneys and the exhumed body of an “unknown soldier,” exposing the thin veneer of peace.
