
Platon Ryabinin, a pianist, travels to Griboedov to visit his father. At Zastupinsk station he argues with waitress Vera over bad food, misses his train and loses his passport and money after a clash with her fiancé, Andrei. Vera learns Platon faces exile to a Siberian prison for a car accident he didn’t cause. While waiting for the next train, they grow close, turning a brief encounter into a tender romance.
