In a quiet rural village, Jackson Anthony plays Sediris, a hunter who supports his family alongside his young son Tikira, navigating a harsh daily life that leaves little room for reflection. The villagers live with a scant understanding of merit and demerit, often acting out of survival rather than wisdom. When an elderly monk arrives with a small disciple, they settle in a secluded den near the village to pursue meditation, offering a calm presence that contrasts with the rough rhythms of life around them. The elder monk sees through the surface of things, gently guiding the people toward a deeper awareness of right and wrong, and explaining how merits and demerits shape a person’s path.

As word spreads of their kindness, the monks begin to attract visitors who come to learn and to do good. Sediris, however, perceives the two monks as obstacles to his hunting livelihood and makes repeated attempts to chase them away, each effort thwarted by the villagers’ growing sympathy for the monks. Tikira, the hunter’s son, forms a surprising friendship with the little monk, spending time together and gradually opening his heart to a clearer distinction between goodness and evil. This growing bond unsettles Sediris, whose grip on the old ways tightens as his son drifts toward the monks’ compassionate example.

The village starts to rally around the monks as Sediris’s anger intensifies and his plot to harm them becomes more evident. Tikira’s newfound calling and the little monk’s patient explanations illuminate a path away from violence, prompting Sediris to lash out with greater hostility. Yet the community’s protection of the two monks grows stronger, and Sediris ends up badly injured by a trap of his own making. In the wake of his misdeeds, the monks respond with mercy and care, embodying a humane, forgiving ethic that stands in stark contrast to his earlier harshness. The turning point arrives as Sediris confronts his flaws, seeks forgiveness from the monks, and is met with their unconditional forgiveness.

Moved by the lessons of the sages and the quiet strength of Buddha Dharma, Sediris begins to abandon the violence that once defined him. He chooses a new, peaceful path and leaves hunting behind, embracing a life that centers on restraint, humility, and the well-being of those around him. Meanwhile, Tikira continues along the moral thread laid out by the monks and ultimately steps into a contemplative life himself, becoming a monk. Sediris’s wife, Jayani Senanayaka, watches this transformation with a mix of concern, relief, and cautious hope, witnessing how compassion and example can reshape a family and a village. The story closes on a note of quiet redemption, underscoring that kindness can heal long-standing wounds and that meaningful change is possible even in the face of years of hardship.
