Ramesan, Dileep, to support his five-member family by selling pickles and other eatables, arrives in the border town of Pandavapuram under a string of difficult circumstances. The town’s stark, dreary conditions set the stage for the film’s unflinching look at life there.
Here, Ramesan is unable to locate his old friend Leela Krishnan, Salim Kumar, who survives by acting as a hijada to make a living.
Devumma, Bindu Panicker, runs a brothel and gives him shelter.
Shivani, Meera Jasmine, a teenage girl living with Devumma and Raniamma, falls in love with Ramesan.
Bharathiyakka, an old inmate of the house, fills her wallet with money earned by selling virgins to infamous pimps.
She persuades Devumma to sell Shivani to a wealthy Zamindar.
