What Is Songs of the Years of Fire About?
The premise of Songs of the Years of Fire without spoilers.
An abstract, vividly colored tribute to Soviet perseverance under literal fire from foreign and capitalist aggressors, this lyrical animated short seeks to bottle Mother Russia’s spirit. At moments it adopts a spaghetti‑western feel, emphasized by striking silhouette imagery. Patriotic folk songs are illustrated line‑for‑line in the sumptuous animation. – Dennis Harvey
