Three inseparable friends—Aravind, Chandru, and Krishnamurthy “Kimoo”—live by a rule that friendship comes first, even over family. When Aravind’s sister, Amrita, falls for Chandru, the trio’s bond is put to the test. Chandru, an orphan who has grown up under the care of Aravind’s parents, is hesitant to pursue a romance with Amrita, sensing the weight of such a connection on their tight-knit circle. To keep peace, Chandru seeks help from Kimoo to steer clear of the arranged match.
A run of small misfortunes and legal run-ins forces Aravind and Chandru to lie low in Hyderabad for a few days. There, they and Kimoo take up painting work in a sprawling mansion owned by Bhavani Shankar, a contractor who is also Kimoo’s paternal uncle. In the mansion, Aravind encounters Padmini, who captures his interest even though she initially treats him as a friend. Her gratitude grows after he saves her from a near-fatal electrocution, setting the stage for a complicated relationship that will challenge the landscape of loyalties around him.
Meanwhile, Swathi, Padmini’s cousin, harbors a crush on Aravind and becomes furious when she learns of his feelings for Padmini. She engineers a scheme by sending forged letters—written in Padmini’s name—to push Aravind toward believing that his love is returned. When Padmini becomes engaged to another man, Chandru steps in to defend Aravind’s affection and ends up publicly insulting Padmini, causing her engagement to unravel. This triggers a painful realization for Padmini: though she may care for Aravind as a friend, she is drawn to him as a future partner. Yet she also vows to protect Chandru’s friendship with Aravind, hoping to mend what Swathi’s deceit has broken.
Gowtham, Aravind’s cousin who longs for Amrita, hatches a ploy to drive a wedge between the two men. He first tries to ignite trouble by setting Amrita’s sari on fire while she cooks, and when Chandru blames Padmini for the mishap, she is unfairly implicated. Gowtham escalates his scheme by sabotaging the annual bullock race—loosening the wheels on Chandru’s cart to frame Padmini as the culprit—cleverly widening the rift between the friends. Determined to protect Chandru’s place in the race, Aravind takes Chandru’s place and wins, proving that their bond endures even under pressure.
The growing tension comes to a head when Chandru accuses Padmini of trying to kill him. In a cruel twist, Padmini warns that she will leave if Aravind remains friends with Chandru and refuses to dissolve the bond. Aravind then reveals a long-buried secret: as children, he had accidentally killed Chandru’s deaf-and-dumb younger brother, a tragedy that has haunted him forever. The confession shatters Chandru’s trust, and Gowtham overhears enough to fuel his spite, quickly feeding Chandru with anger and convincing him to sever ties with Aravind. The rift becomes unbridgeable, and tragedy strikes when Aravind falls from a cliff, presumed dead as Chandru and the others grieve his loss.
In truth, Aravind survives the fall but remains in a vegetative state, and Chandru, who has since become a Major in the Indian Army, has not returned to Aravind’s home for five years. A letter from Kimoo reaches him with startling news: Aravind is alive, though unresponsive, and there is a son—named Chandru—in Aravind and Padmini’s life, a living tribute to their friendship. Gowtham continues his cruel treatment of Padmini and Amrita, exploiting Aravind’s silence to tighten his hold on the family.
The moment of renewal comes when Gowtham’s cruelty draws Aravind back from the brink. Hearing Chandru’s cries somehow pierces the veil of the vegetative state, and Aravind awakens to confront Gowtham and his goons. With strength rebuilt and old loyalties restored, the trio—Aravind, Chandru, and Krishnamurthy—as well as Aravind and Padmini, and Chandru and Amrita, are reunited in a hopeful, lasting happiness.
This story weaves themes of friendship, guilt, sacrifice, and forgiveness, painting a vivid portrait of how loyalty can be tested, shattered, and ultimately mended across years of separation and misunderstanding.
