“Slovo” House. Unfinished Novel (2021): Cast

Kharkiv in the 1930s marked a vibrant era for Ukrainian art. Young, ambitious poet Vladimir Akimov, a proof-reader from the provinces, unexpectedly finds himself living in the luxurious “Slovo” House, a residence built for artists. Though confident in his own poetry, he struggles to gain recognition. Fate intervenes when he’s approached to become the author of a play, signing a non-disclosure agreement and unknowingly setting himself on a dangerous path. The story explores the lives of Ukrainian artists facing persecution under a totalitarian regime, against the backdrop of the Holodomor, a tragic event that resulted in millions of deaths.
