Captain Bob Dayton, a former World War I ace and the owner of Sky Raiders, Inc., unveils a groundbreaking bombsight and a brand-new high-speed fighter aircraft, the Sky Raider. He envisions a brighter future for aviation and recruits a hopeful young pilot, Tim Bryant, a member of Air Youth of America, to help push the project forward. The project hinges on our hero’s vision and the teamwork of those who believe in it, setting the stage for a tense clash between innovation and espionage.
But the peace of Dayton’s workshop is threatened by a relentless foe. Nazi agent Felix Lynx schemes to steal the designs for his own country, stopping at nothing to seize the valuable prototype. He is aided by a capable female accomplice, Innis Clair, and by a ruthless criminal named John Kane who somehow bears a striking resemblance to Dayton himself. Together, they wage a clandestine campaign to capture the fighter before it can take to the skies, and the film follows their attempts as they collide with Dayton’s defensible perimeter time and again. Each effort to pilfer the prototype ends in failure, underscoring the resolve of Dayton and his allies to safeguard their groundbreaking work.
The tension reaches the Pacific as Dayton’s new bombsight is put to the test in Hawaii. Lynx, ever watchful, intercepts a Sikorsky S-45 flying boat en route to Honolulu. The mission takes a dramatic turn when the aircraft is shot down, leaving Dayton and his secretary Mary Blake, who were aboard, stranded. A government cutter arrives to rescue them, providing a narrow beacon of hope amid the chaos. The survival of Dayton and Mary is not only a personal victory but a strategic one for the defense program they represent.
As the survivors are brought to safety, Lieutenant Carry and Tim assess the situation on the ground. They discover that Lynx has dispatched his henchmen to finish the job, intensifying the danger surrounding the prototype and those who protect it. In a climactic and fatal confrontation, the foreign agents meet their end when they collide with an oncoming truck, eliminating the immediate threat. In the aftermath, Mary makes a personal declaration that reshapes the story’s ending: she becomes Mrs. Dayton, signaling a life built on shared risk, trust, and a future tethered to the very invention Dayton has dedicated himself to protecting.
