Sex, Death and Bowling 2015

Sean McAllister, Adrian Grenier, is a successful fashion designer who returns to his small, rural Southern California hometown when he learns his brother Rick Bailey Chase has cancer. Sean has been away since a fierce argument with their father, Dick Daniel Hugh Kelly. Rick lives at home with his wife Glenn Selma Blair and their live-in nurse Ana Drea de Matteo. Rick’s son Eli Joshua Rush idolizes both his father and his grandfather and dreams of following in their footsteps as a bowler.

When Sean arrives, old wounds reopen between him and Dick, underscoring a tense family history. Sean is gay, and a painful incident from his youth— involving another boy from the high school football team that a teacher witnessed—helped fuel the rift and shaped how the family members interact despite Sean’s rising fame. Sean hopes to reconcile with both his father and his brother, but the past casts a long shadow and makes forgiveness hard to achieve.

Dick, meanwhile, is focused on a big goal: winning the Fiesta Bowl, a prestigious bowling tournament. When a key bowler is sidelined by an injury, Sean agrees to join the team, stepping into the breach to help the family reconnect through a shared pursuit. The effort culminates in a triumphant moment as they win the tournament and bring the trophy home to Rick.
