What Is Seamstress About?
The premise of Seamstress without spoilers.
This documentary explores the life of Martta Koskinen, the last woman executed in Finland, in 1943. A seamstress living in Helsinki during World War II, Martta represented a generation disillusioned by the aftermath of the 1918 civil war. The ongoing conflict and the subsequent political climate fostered persecution against those with socialist beliefs, prompting Martta and her fellow revolutionaries to continue their resistance despite the risks. Imprisoned multiple times, Martta’s idealism and belief in peace and justice proved dangerous in a nation divided.
