Laura Crane, a Blackmore University professor, becomes the target of a deadly catfishing scheme when her student, Jason Carvey, dressed as Ghostface, murders her and aims to complete the twisted “movie” Richie Kirsch and Amber Freeman started. Jason’s plan hinges on enlisting his roommate, Greg Bruckner, to eliminate the Carpenter sisters, Sam and Tara, so the new chapter of their horror saga can unfold exactly as envisioned. But the night twists in unexpected ways when a different Ghostface reaches out, ends up killing Greg, and drives a knife into Jason himself, abruptly changing the plot.

In New York City, the surviving Carpenters try to rebuild their lives. Tara Carpenter enrolls at Blackmore University and shares the campus with other survivors, including Chad Meeks-Martin and Mindy Meeks-Martin, their roommate Quinn Bailey, Mindy’s girlfriend Anika Kayoko, and Chad’s roommate Ethan Landry. Meanwhile, Sam Carpenter begins regular therapy with Dr. Christopher Stone and finds herself under a harsh new spotlight, unfairly branded by an online conspiracy that accuses her of masterminding the killings. The tension thickens when Detective Wayne Bailey searches for answers, and a Ghostface call to Sam shakes everyone to the core. Amid the chaos, a Ghostface mask associated with the Woodsboro murders resurfaces, intensifying the sense that the cycle is never truly over.

At the police station, the Carpenter sisters meet with Kirby Reed and journalist Gale Weathers, who reveal that Sidney Prescott has gone into hiding to protect her family. The atmosphere grows tenser as clues pile up and past traumas collide with present danger. Outside the station, Sam’s boyfriend, Danny Brackett, watches from a distance as Ghostface stalks the area and quietly steals a moment of fear from everyone present, underscoring how the attack strain has infiltrated every corner of their lives. The survivors retreat to a derelict theater that Gale has discovered, a shrine-like space filled with artifacts tied to past Ghostface atrocities. Here, the horror deepens: a second assault occurs, and the group is separated as Mindy and Ethan are propelled into danger. A chilling realization settles in when it’s clear that the killer(es) are exploiting the familiar cinema rules that fans of horror franchises expect: anyone can die, yet the story continues. The tension peaks as two Ghostfaces close in on Chad, and the danger escalates with the revelation that Wayne Bailey himself is orchestrating the chaos, aided by his children, Ethan and the still-alive Quinn. Their motive is stark: revenge on Sam for killing Richie, their brother, who died at the hands of Ghostface. They also confess to sabotaging Sam’s life online to drive the narrative toward her downfall.

In a brutal confrontation, Tara fights to save her sister, and Sam confronts the truth about the lineage of killers they’ve inherited. Tara strikes Ethan, and Sam turns the tide by ending Quinn’s life with a decisive shot to the head, even as Wayne fights back.
