The film tells the poignant story of a young boy named Jack (Jacob Tremblay), who has lived his entire life in a small, makeshift room with his loving mother, referred to as Ma (Brie Larson). Jack begins by sharing his whimsical belief that he was delivered to his mother by TV people from outer space after falling from Heaven. On the day of his fifth birthday, Jack joyfully greets the inanimate objects that populate their confined space, expressing excitement over the prospect of a birthday cake.
