What Is Retrodreaming About?
The premise of Retrodreaming without spoilers.
RETRODREAMING explores the unsettling reality of abandoned schools in rural Japan, often left behind due to demographic shifts and depopulation. These empty buildings, sometimes deserted after events like pandemics or nuclear incidents, evoke a sense of ghostly presence and echo Japanese folklore traditions known as "Kaidan," or scary stories. The film focuses on the visual impact of the Showa-era architecture of the Sawada School, featuring audio recordings that reveal a secret experiment during a pandemic and subsequent mysterious occurrences, creating a unique atmosphere blending retro-futurism, science fiction, and unresolved mystery.
