In the joyous days after the Mudanya Armistice, Izmir’s streets echo with chants of “Long live the Gazi, the Army, the Grand National Assembly.” Latife Hanım’s admiration for Mustafa Kemal grows as his Izmir residence serves as headquarters. Zübeyde Hanım wants to meet the young İzmir woman and insists on hosting her son’s mother.
