What Is Rendez-vous of the Docks About?
The premise of Rendez-vous of the Docks without spoilers.
The film reenacts the Marseilles dockworkers’ refusal to load arms for the Indochina War, with non‑professional actors and a shoulder‑mounted camera that anticipates the Nouvelle Vague. Seen as a rare French neorealist bridge between Renoir’s Toni and Godard’s Breathless, its police‑halted debut became the longest censored film, thought lost for 35 years.
