The mission goes awry when the team fails to secure the spear, and Nakamura is killed in the scramble. The setback forces a hard pause, but West’s superior, Colonel Gregori, steps in and, after a bonding trip to his cabin in the Pacific Northwest, christens the group the “Red Scorpions.” The new moniker signals a sharper edge and renewed resolve.

A second attempt to slip inside Kendrick’s network hinges on a different ruse: Ryan poses as a racist southerner to gain trust and earns an invitation to Kendrick’s training camp. The ruse almost works, but the mission stalls when Ryan’s romantic encounter with Kendrick’s associate Donna, Suki Kaiser, exposes the ruse and lands him in a dungeon.
