Siddharth, an IIT graduate who runs a successful civil engineering firm, leads a life of orderly success, while his lookalike Aditya spirals into a reckless world of gambling and petty theft alongside his sidekick, Vema. Siddharth is in love with Mahima, whereas Gayathri harbors affection for Aditya, unaware of his true identity. The delicate balance of their lives is shattered when Aditya, attempting to help Vema with his debt, targets Gayathri with deceitful lies to extract money. Gayathri, however, chooses to stand by him even after learning the truth. After they secure the money, Aditya’s anger—and Siddharth’s—spikes in the aftermath of a party, and that same night a burglar breaks into a house and fatally stabs the owner, Akash.

The following day, Aditya frees Vema by settling his debt and wins Gayathri’s trust by returning her money and telling her the truth. As the murder investigation into Akash’s death unfolds, a cellphone selfie taken by a nearby couple shows either Siddharth or Aditya in the frame, and both are brought in for questioning, unaware of the other’s presence. CI Nagendra, who has a long-standing rivalry with Siddharth, subjects him to coercive questioning. Siddharth maintains that his car broke down and that, lacking a repair kit, he had to hire a taxi; Aditya, meanwhile, uses a courtroom-style argument to deflect torture and to taunt Yamini, the investigating officer. She enlists Akash’s friend and his servant, showing them the photo of the two suspects, but neither recognizes them. She also questions Vema, who is ordered not to leave the city, only to discover later that Aditya had already arranged for his escape.

As the investigation deepens, Yamini uncovers the history of rivalry between Siddharth and Nagendra: years earlier, Siddharth helped Nagendra’s daughter elope against her father’s wishes,-doing so at the risk of provoking Nagendra’s enmity. Forensic work reveals a crucial clue—a hair sample from the crime scene that does not match anyone else in Akash’s home. At the police station, Siddharth attempts an escape but is interrupted by Aditya; the two men collide in a violent clash that shakes the station and damages property. The tension between them escalates as the truth about their identities surfaces: the two are identical twins who split in childhood after their parents’ divorce.

The twins’ backstory unravels with painful honesty. Aditya grew up in a household where his mother’s gambling addiction consumed her, and she ultimately died by suicide. He was then taken in by a father who offered little warmth, shaping Aditya into a gambler who sought control and danger. A period of anger management and sibling rivalry followed, during which the brothers spent time in a mental development facility. Aditya had ambitions in law but left school as ethics and discipline waned, and the brothers drifted apart after their father’s death. Despite the separation, Aditya kept a close, almost obsessive, watch on Siddharth, driven by envy and a need to measure up to his brother’s seemingly orderly life.

As the investigation reaches a turning point, Nagendra intensifies his bid to frame Siddharth for Akash’s murder. Yet additional evidence—such as a taxi driver’s testimony about Siddharth’s supposed alibi—and the fact that Aditya had used gambling winnings to clear Vema’s debt, undermine Nagendra’s case. A court ultimately clears both brothers of the murder charges, with the judge recognizing the complexity of the situation and aiming to protect the innocent. Nagendra, deprived of his revenge, retires from his post.

But the resolution is not complete. A week after the judgment, Yamini stumbles upon a photograph of Mahima while rearranging belongings and learns that she was the woman Akash had coveted. This discovery reveals a hidden layer: Siddharth had murdered Akash for drugging, kidnapping, and raping Mahima, an act born of a cruel childhood lust and aided by Akash’s bribery of the police to escape consequences. When Aditya discovers the truth, he chooses solidarity with his brother and gets himself arrested in a drunken-driving incident to throw off the police and shield Siddharth.

In a final, fraught encounter, Aditya confides in Siddharth about Yamini’s inability to reopen the case, given that she had fabricated a witness to bolster Siddharth’s defense. Siddharth, weary of the past, hands Aditya a photograph of their mother and declares his intention to leave for Mumbai, then Copenhagen, never to return. He also says goodbye to the life he shared with Gayathri, leaving Aditya to contemplate a future with his wife. The film closes on a note of grim resolution: the brothers’ intertwined fates, their haunted pasts, and a promise from Aditya to strive for a better future with his loved ones.
