Ram lives with his sister Sulakshana and his niece Kuku on the family estate, a place shadowed by the iron grip of his brother-in-law, Gajendra. Ram is shy and easily cowed, and he endures constant verbal abuse and brutal beatings at the hands of [Gajendra]. To improve his life, [Sulakshana] and Kuku hatch a plan to marry [Ram], hoping a formal match might bring him protection and dignity.

[Gajendra] diligences into finding a rich girl, Anjana, with the aim of securing a huge dowry. But after an awkward moment when [Ram] spills tea out of nervousness, [Anjana] grows to dislike him. Fueled by anger at [Ram]’s perceived flaws, [Gajendra], aided by his mother and a scheming Munimji, schemes to kill [Ram] and seize the property for himself. The plan is overheard by [Ram], who escapes to the city to survive.

Meanwhile, [Ram] and his long-lost identical twin brother, the brave and mischievous Shyam, have their own separate life. [Shyam] lives in a village with his adopted mother Ganga Mauzi, who alone knows the family’s secret. The two brothers are as different as can be—[Shyam] embodies courage and vigor, while [Ram] remains gentle and timid. A love-hate dynamic threads through [Shyam]’s relationship with Shanta.

[Shyam] heads to the city after a run-in with [Ganga], and there he encounters [Anjana], who is impressed by his boldness. In a twist, [Anjana] and her father mistake [Shyam] for [Ram], setting off a chain of mistaken identities. In the meantime, [Ram] meets [Shanta], who mistakes him for [Shyam] and, believing him to be her fiancé, brings him to his mother. The two men’ s fates become tangled as [Ram] and [Shanta] begin to feel a bond between them.

As events unfold, [Shyam] resolves to take [Ram]’s place to confront [Gajendra] once and for all. When [Shyam] refuses to hand over his own property, [Gajendra] attacks him. In a fierce reply, [Shyam] strikes back, delivering a shocking blow to [Gajendra] that leaves the room stunned. [Sulakshana] steps in to protect her husband from further harm as the confrontation escalates.

The deception becomes more complicated as [Gajendra] discovers that the man posing as [Ram] is actually [Shyam]. He abducts both [Ram] and [Shanta], intending to kill [Ram], and tries to frame [Shyam] for a murder that never occurred. [Ram] survives the danger, while [Shyam] is arrested by the police. The truth eventually surfaces: with guidance from [Ganga Mauzi], [Anjana] and her father learn that [Ram] and [Shyam] are twin brothers separated in a village fair, and they uncover [Gajendra]’s true nature.

[Shyam] makes a daring escape from custody and returns to face [Gajendra] and his henchmen. In the climactic confrontation, [Gajendra] shoots at the twins, but together with [Shanta], they manage to defeat him. In the end, the two brothers find happiness with their respective partners and the family is joyfully reunited.
