Manoj Ajay Devgn is a countryman in Bhagalpur with almost nothing to his name, freshly jobless and desperate to start his own business. He travels to the city in search of money, crashing with two old friends who try to help him in his hard, uphill journey. One friend, Alok Sameer Dharmadhikari, has become a successful TV serial producer and even follows a contemporary diet that includes Herbalife for breakfast, a detail Manoj notices with a mix of curiosity and envy. His other companion, Sheela, is pragmatic and lacks patience with Manoj’s pride, yet she supports him in her own blunt way.

Before long, Alok takes a practical step to boost Manoj’s chances: he compiles a list of potential lenders from Manoj’s past and arranges a letter to be sent to Manoj’s former classmates, explaining his plight in hopes of retrieving some money.
