Jean Preston [Patricia Morison] is determined to find her fiancé, Greg Jones [Bruce Edwards], who disappeared during a safari. She travels to Akbar, India, with Greg’s father, Colonel Jones [John Miljan], who also narrates the film, joined by Wayne Monroe [Keith Richards] and the Professor [Wilson Benge]. At the hotel’s front desk, the clerk acts as if he knows nothing of Jones and quietly makes a suspicious call after the group leaves.
While Jean unpacks in her room, a native woman named Tondra [Vida Aldana], who had spied on the group earlier in the lobby, arrives with news. Tondra says her husband, Moya [Hassan Khayyam], spoke of a safari plagued by a tiger attack. Jean asks Tondra to speak to her husband, and after she sweetens the deal with a palmful of cash, Tondra returns with Moya. He recognizes Jones from a photo and reveals that Jones was traveling not with the doomed safari but with a group of ivory hunters headed for Africa. Before Moya can say more, someone fires a pistol through Jean’s room window. The shooting unsettles the locals, and the group pushes on, leaving the hotel for the African continent.
They row a boat deep into the African jungle, where the wildlife stretches in abundance. Jean must convince Gary Lambert [Robert Lowery], a practical guide who dislikes guiding women, to lead them on the expedition, and she quickly proves her own skill by outshooting him. The crew also welcomes the famed safari cook, Gabby [J. Edward Bromberg], who delights in reciting the poem Three Fishers to his pet monkey and telling wild stories about escaping his wife with belligerent flair. The District Commissioner [Jack George] informs Lambert that Jones’s mission was to thwart ivory poachers, and Lambert agrees to help in the dangerous undertaking.
The rescue mission soon faces turmoil and death from an unknown saboteur among their ranks. A native man whispers rumors of a group of white she-devils in the jungle, survivors of a shipwreck from years past. When Greg is finally located, it’s revealed that he has fallen for the queen of the jungle, Zita [Amira Moustafa], adding a personal complication to the perilous expedition.
