Putty Tat Trouble 1951

Tweety, Tweety, is cheerful as he shovels snow from his nest, muttering about dreaming of a white Christmas. From the windows of brownstone apartments across the street, Sylvester and Sam Cat notice him and race to grab him, only to realize they’ll have to outdo each other to claim the prize.

The two cats keep one‑upping one another, taking turns getting close to Tweety, but the bird always slips away, leaving the felines banged up and frustrated. Tweety seems to enjoy the game, even sharing a moment with a playful “drinking bird” prop, and he cheekily asks Sam Cat to take him for a ride again after a tumble down a staircase with the unconscious cat.

The excitement boils to a climax on a frozen pond guarded by a thin-ice warning sign. It looks as if Tweety has fallen in, his hat resting near a hole in the center. The cats slip and slide as Tweety readies a clever trap: he uses an ice pick to cut a circle around them. He pauses to request that they toss his hat to him, which they do in a last‑ditch bid for mercy. Tweety thanks them and completes the circle, sending the cats tumbling into the frigid water.

Back to his routine, Tweety is shown resuming his snow shoveling. Sylvester and Sam are depicted in their respective homes, clearly sick—shivering, wrapped in blankets, feet dunked in warm water—as Tweety gleefully greets the audience and continues his work.

“Gesundheit!” to each, and Tweety looks at the audience and says, “The poow putty tats.”
