What Is Protéa About?

The premise of Protéa without spoilers.

Protéa, Victorin‑Hippolyte Jasset’s final film, stars Josette Andriot as a daring female spy‑Mata‑Hari in a tight black jersey—a look that pre‑dated Musidora’s Irma Vep. The movie displays Jasset’s rhythmic action, vivid realism, striking visuals, anarchic tone, and lighting that earned him the nickname “the Rembrandt of cinema.” Released posthumously, it succeeded and led Andriot to continue the series with other directors.
