Across two eras, past and present, a string of mysterious events reshapes a small village. In the late 1940s, Meriam, a renowned gamelan prima donna, finds herself torn between two men, Marsani and Danial. She ultimately chooses Danial, igniting jealousy in Marsani. Meriam is later found dead while pregnant with her first child. After her death, the village grows more unsettled as a string of terrifying incidents begins to surface. Marsani lives in constant fear, haunted by nightmares of Meriam, who is rumoured to be a vampire.
More than fifty years pass. Marsani carries on with his life, but the memory of Meriam casts a long shadow over the town. Then a girl named Maria arrives, bearing an uncanny resemblance to Meriam. Maria is a close friend of Marsani’s grandson, Norman, and his fiancée, Anna. As strange events unfold, Marsani accuses Maria of vampirism. The long shadow of Meriam returns, and the central question remains: who is Maria, and what is her connection to Meriam?
