Two colossal interplanetary ships, the Galliott and the Argos, push into deep space after receiving a distress beacon from Aura, a planet shrouded in a dense, shifting fog. As they attempt to land, an unseen force takes hold of the Argos crew, driving them to kill one another in a brutal fury. Only Captain Markary manages to resist the influence long enough to force his fellow sailors off the doomed ship, buying precious time for the surviving crew.
When Aura’s surface is finally reached, the explorers step into a landscape filled with thick, pulsating mists that glow with colors that flicker and dance in unsettling ways. The atmosphere itself feels oppressive, and the crew’s sense of danger grows with each step as they search for the Galliott. The tension escalates when they discover the other ship’s crew have slaughtered each other, and the body count rises with disturbing rapidity. Among the dead is Markary’s younger brother, Toby, a loss that weighs heavily on him as they attempt to bury as many corpses as they can. Yet a sense of creepiness returns when some bodies vanish from the sealed bridge, leaving behind haunting questions.
As the living crew press on, more horror unfolds. Tiona witnesses the corpses of the Argos crew walking aboard their own ship, a terrifying sight that leaves her paralyzed with fear. Markary urges the survivors to flee Aura, but the ship’s damage from the landings means repairs will take time. In the quiet waiting period that follows, more killings occur, and Markary records a private confession that he suspects none of them will survive this mission.
While exploring Aura, Wes uncovers the ruins of a distant spaceship not far from the Argos. Markary, Sanya, and Carter investigate this relic and uncover the skeletal remains of long-dead crew—evidence that others were drawn to the planet by Aura’s distress beacon long before them. The trio narrowly escapes a trap inside the ancient craft, but Carter mysteriously vanishes afterward, leaving the group on edge.
The situation intensifies when Kier and Sallis from the Galliott arrive with the motive to steal the Argos’s Meteor Rejector. Kier escapes with the device, but Markary confronts Sallis in a brutal struggle that reveals Sallis’s body to be controlled by an Auran presence. The truth emerges: the Aurans have lured both ships to Aura to escape their dying world, and they plan to hijack the Galliott to reach humanity’s home planet. Markary vows to stop this treacherous plan.
Determined, Markary and his team race back to the Galliott to recover the Meteor Rejector. They succeed in planting explosives and prepare to destroy the alien threat, but the confrontation costs them dearly: Dr. Karan and Tiona lose their lives. Returning to the Argos, Markary and Sanya barely escape as the Galliott is annihilated. Yet the nightmare follows them—those who survive begin to reveal hints of possession, as Markary and Sanya themselves seem to be influenced by Aurans.
In a fateful twist, Wes, the last unpossessed survivor, sabotages the Meteor Rejector, sacrificing himself when the device breaks beyond repair. With no practical way to reach home, Markary and Sanya choose a desperate course correction and set their sights on a nearby planet. As they come into view, the planet is revealed to be Earth, a final, haunting reminder of the unknown dangers that await them and the fragile line between savior and prey. The voyage ends with the grim realization that their path home is now forever altered, and their fate hangs in the balance as they continue to move toward a world that may be both destination and trap.
