Ramachandramurthy, Kamal Haasan, a charismatic Indian pilot based in Canada, is known for his carefree, womanizing ways. During a tense aircraft hijacking, he crosses paths with Mythili Simran, a passenger whose presence quietly unsettles him. Together they manage to defuse the crisis and save everyone on board, and somewhere along that shared risk, they discover a surprising connection that grows into love and eventually leads to marriage.
Ram’s four closest friends—Ayyapan Nair [Jayaram], Vedhantham Iyer alias Vedham [Yugi Sethu], Ganesh Hegde [Ramesh Aravind], and Hanumanth Reddy [Sriman]—attend the wedding and witness Ram’s transformation from playboy to devoted husband. For a while, it seems Mythili and Ram have built a stable, faithful life together, and Ram leaves behind his old habits.
However, a blind spot in trust sets in motion a sequence of misunderstandings. Ram prevents Hegde’s ex-girlfriend Nirmala [Devayani] from taking her own life, and Mythili misreads the incident as an affair, prompting her to leave Ram and return to her parents. A separate lapse—Ram, intoxicated, unwittingly enters the wrong room while trying to reach Mythili in the night—deepens the strain between them.
To distract Ram and help him move forward, his friends whisk him away to Bengaluru, where they rent a room and arrange for a call girl named Maragathavalli, alias Maggie [Ramya Krishnan], on Ram’s birthday. Ram, who isn’t ready to betray Mythili, clashes with Maggie. In a panic, Vedham hurries back to Maggie’s room and finds her dead. The four friends—Nair, Vedham, Hegde, and Reddy—decide to discreetly dispose of the body, rolling it in a blanket and dumping it in a dry river before returning to Chennai.
Ram soon discovers a cache of diamonds hidden inside Maggie’s mobile phone, and a new obsession takes hold: uncover the real murderer and reckon with the diamonds’ mystery. A few days later, a news report about a corpse in the same area rattles them, heightening the sense of danger. Meanwhile, the wives of Ram’s four friends plan to reunite Ram with Mythili by hosting a Ugadi party at Reddy’s house, hoping a festive setting will heal the rift.
At the party, Maggie reappears and demands the diamonds back. She reveals the truth behind her supposed death: the diamonds belong to a smuggler, and Maggie had stolen them for herself. Realizing the diamonds could unravel everything, she blackmails Ram with the threat of exposing his Bangalore rendezvous to Mythili and the others. The smuggler arrives, kidnapping Maggie, Ram, and the four friends. Mythili, seeing Ram with Maggie again, believes the worst: that Ram has not changed. She follows them with an undercover inspector, hoping to witness the truth for herself.
When she finally spots Ram and Maggie in a tense stalemate, Mythili’s resolve falters, especially after she believes she’s witnessed a closeness that rekindles her fears. She then swallows sleeping pills, a desperate act that turns out to be the vessel for the diamonds Ram had hidden. Maggie and the smuggler attempt to rescue her and escape with the diamonds, but the undercover officer and the police intervene, arresting them all. Ram’s swift intervention saves Mythili from danger, and, after overhearing the truth-revealed conversation among Ram and his friends, Mythili resolves to reform her suspicions. In the end, the couple reconciles, choosing trust and a renewed commitment over jealousy and doubt.
