On a cluttered cellar stage labeled “6 Acts of Swell Actin,” Spanky serves as the lively master of ceremonies, guiding the neighborhood kids through song to come to the show. The lineup boasts a miniature chorus line, a trio of farm girls, a group of kids dressed as skeletons, and featured spots for Alfalfa alongside a new girl named Cookie.

Backstage, pandemonium brews around Buckwheat’s dealings with a mischievous little monkey, while Spanky frets over his star act, the Flory-Dory Girls, whose tardiness keeps forcing him to shuffle the order of performances. The pressure of keeping everything in motion weighs on him as the clock ticks and the audience grows restless.

When the show reaches its final act with still no sign of the Flory-Dories, Spanky has the other boys don the Flory-Dories’ costumes, hoping a swift swap will salvage the act. Unknown to him, the monkey has hidden itself in the bustle of his costume, setting the stage for a chaotic mix of mischief and slapstick.

During the dance, the monkey pulls a needle from the costume and begins stabbing Spanky in the rear, prompting the other boys to mimic his out-of-character jolts of pain for the audience’s amusement. In a comic turn of mishap, Spanky accidentally shakes the dress to the floor, and the rest of the troupe follows suit, ruining the act just as the crowd roars with laughter.

Cookie makes a valiant attempt to bring the curtain down, but she only succeeds in trapping the boys in front of the curtain. Seizing the moment, Spanky brings the show to a close as the curtain finally hides his corset, garters, and lace leggings, sending the kids home with the memory of a chaotic, unforgettable performance.
