The film unfolds across numerous years, all centered on the pivotal date of July 15th. It opens with a glimpse into July 15th, 2006, where Emma Morley (Anne Hathaway) is seen swimming and cycling, embodying a sense of freedom and vitality. However, we swiftly flip back to July 15th, 1988, where the story ignites at a college graduation celebration for Emma and Dexter (Jim Sturgess). Still adorned in their caps and gowns, they meet at a gathering of friends. Dexter introduces himself to Emma, only for her to remind him that they’ve already crossed paths before—a few times, in fact, but he was too inebriated to recall.
