Undisturbed, the stallions and mares do what nobody else in the valley dares to even talk about: love. Yet, beneath the calm surface, a more subtle, shared tenderness bubbles up among a few of the valley’s inhabitants. Kolbeinn, Ingvar E. Sigurðsson and Solveig, Charlotte Bøving, find their personal yearnings drawn into the center of communal attention, as neighbors speculate and friendships blur in the glow of sunset and the work of feeding, guiding, and watching the animals. The valley becomes not just a place of observation but a cradle for fragile connections.

Vernhardur, Steinn Ármann Magnússon with a penchant for liquor, carves out a rough reputation aboard a Russian fishing vessel with the sailor Gengis, Kash Erden Baater. Their voyages, distant and dangerous, offer a counterpoint to the sedate rhythms of valley life, hinting at a broader world where luck, risk, and companionship mix in unpredictable ways.

Within the valley, a quiet rivalry surfaces over riding routes: Grimur, Kjartan Ragnarsson favors the traditional, measured paths that trace the past, while Egill, Helgi Björnsson leans toward rough terrain, steering his tractor through uncharted ground. Jóhanna, Sigríður María Egilsdóttir seems to have little to say about her mare Raudka, a creature whose quiet presence anchors her days. One day, she encounters an injured old man, a moment that tethers her to the fragile vulnerability of life in a remote setting. The priest Juan Camillo, Juan Camillo Roman Estrada, follows a different pursuit, seeking God on a high spiritual plane, adding a thread of faith and contemplation to the community’s shared tapestry.
