Obituary of a Beast (1985): Cast

Between 1962 and 1966, Jurgen Bartsch, a sex murderer, tortured and killed four children in a German air‑raid bunker. The documentary probes his personality, a childhood spent in a clinic and later with an unaffectionate adoptive couple, and his 1976 death during castration surgery. Vilification and analysis by psychologists such as Alice Miller illustrate how early abuse can produce violent offenders, offering insight into the criminally insane and society’s role in their formation.
