Spoilers ahead
Joyce Chan Ching-yee [Kathy Chow Hoi-Mei] is a 28-year-old superintendent of the Homicide Bureau. While investigating a brutal rape-murder, she recognises the killer’s modus operandi — the same pattern that claimed her mother’s life 23 years earlier. Chan’s relentless pursuit leads to the arrest of Lee Chun-min [Sam Lee], who confesses to the murder of Chan’s mother and several other women. Lee had been held in custody years earlier but was released without a trial, and because he is only 23, Chan becomes convinced that an older serial killer remains at large. The investigation comes to an abrupt halt when Lee kills himself.
