Marykutty’s story is a heartfelt journey of courage, perseverance, and self-acceptance. Born as Mathukutty, she undergoes sex reassignment surgery and transforms into Marykutty, a transgender woman who dreams of making a difference in society. After leaving her job in Chennai, she returns to her hometown, only to face rejection from her father and sister, who disown her because of her gender identity. Despite this, her mother remains supportive, standing by her daughter’s side.

Living with her friend Jovi and her child Tanu, Marykutty is determined to break barriers. She aspires to become a sub-inspector and enrolls in a coaching institute, enduring daily mistreatment from peers yet refusing to give up. Alongside her studies, she joins the church’s radio programme, eventually becoming the popular host of “Jingle” under the alias RJ Angel, showcasing her resilience and passion for communication.

Her journey is marred by conflicts with corrupt police officers, especially Kunjipaloo, a dishonest SI who demands bribes and mistreats her when she questions his actions. An incident occurs when she is harassed by a group of youths, and SI Kunjipaloo intervenes, humiliating her at the station and causing further distress. Her reputation takes a hit when newspapers publish negative stories about her, and she is forced to move to a church-run home, where she tutors children and reflects on her challenges.

In a poignant moment, she visits her mother, unaware of her sister’s engagement celebration. Her family disowns her publicly, branding her as “Unknown,” which leaves her deeply hurt but resolute. With help from the [District Collector] and her growing fame as RJ Angel, she begins to rebuild her life. She dedicates herself to her studies, passing the necessary exams with determination and courage.

During her interview for the sub-inspector position, Marykutty speaks about her aspirations to inspire others, declaring, >“the world is for the talented, not just for men or women.” Her honesty and talent shine through as she secures the job, achieving her goal. The film concludes with Marykutty as a proud police officer, confidently returning to her duties at the police station, her home, and the radio station, where she introduces herself as a symbol of hope and change—Marykutty.
