A young boy once heard celebratory bells in a nearby mountain. Years later, the itinerant mushishi Ginko encounters a mysterious girl living within the same mountain, her body intertwined with branches and leaves. Discovering she is the mountain’s lord, Ginko investigates the unusual circumstances of her selection. He joins the girl's brother, who has been searching for her since her disappearance, embarking on a journey filled with supernatural encounters as he tries to unravel the enigma surrounding Kaya and her connection to the mountain.
