She attends Coles Academic High School, where her friend Bruno Carrelli, matt-lintz, offers her a drink and jokes about her road test, knowing her mother’s meddling. Another friend, Nakia Bahadir, yasmeen-fletcher, joins their group. When she bumps into Zoe Zimmer, a social media influencer, Zoe compliments her necklace before walking away. Kamala suggests asking Zoe for a ride to Avengercon, though Nakia resists because Zoe’s popularity could cause trouble.

Their guidance counselor, Mr. Wilson, humorously calls Kamala for a meeting over the PA, where Kamala is called out for daydreaming. During their talk, he prompts her to define herself, asking, “Where’s Kamala?” as a way to explore her aspirations, but she appears uninterested. Later, Kamala visits a convenience store where Bruno is finalizing her Captain Marvel costume, trying to convince her to ask her mother to drive them. They envision her cosplaying at Avengercon, with animated flourishes representing her imagination. At home, she receives a package from her Nani, her grandmother, zenobia-shroff, but her mother quickly takes it away upon noticing what’s inside, telling her brother Aamir to store it in the attic.

She finds her family’s gold bangle—an heirloom her mother told Aamir to keep hidden—and slips out, meeting Bruno for their bike ride to the bus stop. She loses her bike on the way, but they manage to enter the convention dressed as cosplayers. Kamala’s excitement peaks as she takes pictures with others, but she becomes distracted when she notices Zoe dressed as Captain Marvel, which she critiques as inaccurate. Kamala then puts on her costume and, using the bangle, channels her powers. However, things quickly spiral out of control when Zoe, unaware of Kamala’s secret, admires her costume and gets thrown into the air during a mishap. Kamala’s powers glitch again, and she struggles to control them amidst the flashing cameras. She saves Zoe from falling, but in the chaos, she becomes overwhelmed, and her powers accidentally damage nearby objects. Bruno quickly takes her away on his bike, back toward her house, where her mother is waiting in her room. She confronts Kamala about her rebellious behavior, urging her to consider her true identity. Kamala gazes at her glowing hand and privately refers to her abilities as “cosmic.”

In a mid-credit scene, agents of the Department of Damage Control watch footage of Kamala’s performance at Avengercon. Agent Cleary orders her to be “brought in,” setting the stage for future conflicts.

As the story continues with Episode 2: Crushed, Kamala enters school feeling more confident. Bruno and Nakia discuss her secret superhero identity, with Bruno urging her to keep it hidden. Zoe, spreading her own narratives, calls the hero “Night Light,” and plans a celebration to highlight her own views on life. Kamala, Nakia, and Bruno decide to attend Zoe’s party, where Kamala is introduced to Kamran, a charming transfer student. Kamala’s powers begin to manifest subtly, and she starts training her abilities with Bruno, who helps her practice creating “hard light”—solid constructs from her energy.

She also reconnects with her family during Aamir’s wedding, where her mother reflects on their family’s history of migration and hardship during Partition. Kamala visits her grandmother Sana, who shares stories of her own exile and the significance of the bangle, engraved with the inscription “What you seek is seeking you.” Kamala witnesses her family’s past tragedies firsthand as she learns about the Aisha—her great-grandmother—who once possessed immense power and sacrificed herself to protect her loved ones, including Kamala.

Episode 3: Destined delves into the history of the Clandestines, a supernatural group from another dimension, led by Najma, Kamran’s mother, who believes the bangle can help them return home. The backstory reveals that these beings are tied to the Noor—a light energy that keeps them immortal while on Earth but also traps their essence in a different dimension. Najma and her allies seek to access this full power, which risks destroying the Veil of Noor that separates our world from theirs.

Kamala’s newfound understanding leads her to seek help from Bruno and the Red Daggers, a secret group tasked with defending their dimension. She learns about the dangerous potential of the bangle and the necessity of balancing her power with responsibility. During a series of confrontations, Kamala fights to protect her family and friends, ultimately facing Najma in a battle where her powers manifest wildly, causing chaos in Jersey City.

The climax involves a fight at the Indian train station, where Kamala helps Sana and her family escape from Najma’s forces. Kamala’s connection to her ancestors and her identity as a Djinn becomes clear—her powers are a cosmic gift, linked to her lineage. With the help of Waleed from the Red Daggers, she learns that destroying the Veil could save her world but at great risk. Kamala chooses to protect her dimension, sacrificing her full power momentarily to close the Veil, which results in Najma’s final act of self-sacrifice.

In the aftermath, Kamala gains clarity about her identity and future. She is celebrated as a hero in her city, with her family and community embracing her unusual gifts. Her father Yusuf, [mohan-kapur], affectionately calls her “Ms. Marvel,” symbolizing pride and acceptance. The series sets up her journey toward mastering her abilities and discovering her true destiny.

The series’ mid-credit scene hints at future challenges: Kamala’s bangle begins to glow dramatically, and suddenly she’s thrown into her closet, where Carol Danvers emerges, seemingly aware of the young hero’s existence but quickly leaving, indicating new alliances and threats on the horizon.
