What Is Moose Jaw: There’s a Future in Our Past About?
The premise of Moose Jaw: There’s a Future in Our Past without spoilers.
A wryly humorous excavation of history and personal memory, the film offers a reflexive portrait of the director’s childhood town in the Canadian West, casting Moose Jaw as a mythic symbol of nation‑building and North America’s “manifest destiny.” Embracing the town’s revitalisation motto, “There’s a Future in Our Past,” it treats the post‑colonial crash site as a museum, absorbing the filmmaker into the story of a once‑thriving railhead on the fringe of the British Empire.
