Moon Rainbow 1983

Across different regions of the Earth, a phenomenon known as black traces marks zones where unexplained atmospheric anomalies and magnetic storms erupt. An expertly assembled operational group traces these traces to a cosmic catastrophe on the outskirts of the Solar System, an event that leaves only four survivors: Timur Kizimov, Georgi Taratorkin; David Norton, Vladimir Gostyukhin; Jean Laura and Eduard Jong.

On Oberon, a satellite of Uranus, a geological catastrophe unfolds when a vast section of the surface collapses into the depths of the moon-like world. In the aftermath, nine Space Marine spies sent by the expedition known as the Moon Rainbow are killed, and four others endure the disaster. Over the collapse site, a strange greenish glow appears, its nature unclear. The four survivors seem to be influenced by radiation emanating from this phenomenon.

The tale of the Black Wave then shifts to the Pamir Mountains, at the weather station Eagle Peak, where a blizzard disrupts electronics as a result of the extraordinary abilities of the former Space Marine Kizimov, who is on watch at that moment. Yet the film places greater emphasis on the story of David Norton, nicknamed Moon Dev. Drawing on the powers he gained during the Oberon disaster, Norton executes a feat that defies conventional science: he crosses the Mercury plateau known as the Fire Snakes with apparent ease, a path that had previously claimed the lives of reconnaissance teams.
