Bhadra Kavya Madhavan is a compassionate nurse who shares a warm, bustling home with her widowed mother, her grandmother, and her twin sister Bhama, who is pursuing medical studies. The family dynamic is framed by the presence of their older brother, Jagathy Sreekumar as Achuthankutty, a politician whose public life threads into the private space they all inhabit. Bhadra’s heart feels drawn to Arun, a capable doctor who works alongside her; their connection grows against a backdrop of family approval and cultural expectations.
Indrajith Sukumaran portrays Dr. Arun, a man whose Muslim father and Hindu mother have taught him the value of unity, and who accepts the idea of Bhadra as a daughter-in-law despite the religious differences that surround him. His relationship with Bhadra becomes a central thread, but it is strained by Achuthankutty’s resistance—rooted in the elder brother’s prejudice—leading to a painful breakup that shakes the family’s stability.
Meanwhile, a new crisis unfolds as Achuthankutty clashes with a ruthless moneylender, Krishnakumar, played by Dileep. Krishnakumar pressures the family to sell their ancestral home, tightening the squeeze on Bhadra and Bhama, who are suddenly left to rely on their sister-in-law. The sisters’ world becomes more complicated when Krishnakumar’s sister, Sridevi, is introduced; Revathi brings to life a woman who, after the death of her parents, has been left paralyzed and dependent on others. The encounter between Bhadra and Sridevi adds another layer to the family’s entangled fate.
Krishnakumar’s feelings toward Bhadra shift from obligation to desire, and he is drawn to her simplicity and resilience. He pursues a path that would bind them together, proposing a future that would bring him into the role of husband and caretaker. This new romance sits in stark contrast to the earlier, emotionally fraught love between Bhadra and Arun, creating a tension that the narrative keeps in the foreground as events unfold.
Tragedy arrives when Arun, unable to bear the strain of the circumstances surrounding their relationship and the family’s turmoil, commits suicide. Bhadra spirals into mental shock, her world tilting from the care she once offered to others to the care she now needs from those around her. In a turn that underscores the film’s emphasis on endurance and redemption, Krishnakumar steps forward to shoulder the responsibility of tending to the traumatized Bhadra, eventually choosing to marry her.
Against the backdrop of hardship and loss, the story moves toward a hopeful, affirming ending. Bhadra’s fate takes a profoundly positive turn as she reveals to Krishnakumar that she is pregnant, signaling a new chapter for the couple and offering a sense of renewal after the years of struggle. The film closes on a note of cautious optimism, with the two finding a path forward together, guided by shared care, resilience, and the possibility of a family rebuilt from the trials they have endured.
