Mascon: A Massive Concentration Of Black Experiential Energy (2025): Cast & Ratings

An audiovisual investigation of the gestures, geometries, grammars and geographies that shape the forms and forces in Ousmane Sembène’s and Djibril Diop Mambéty’s films from 1963‑2004. The work assembles a mosaic of still and moving images and sound drawn from their narrative frames, placing them in a migratory orbit that evokes the borderless imagination of the cine‑Sahel. It amplifies recurring Sembéan and Mambétyan motifs, subjecting them to expansive deformation, centrifugal contraction, compacted compression and amassed concentration—a “Mascon” of black experiential energy as described by Stephen Henderson.
