Man in a Shell (1939): Cast

Belikov, a Greek teacher at a rural gymnasium, obsesses over order, keeps everything in cases, and lives by the mantra “no matter what happens,” making him fearful and controlling. His rigid principle intimidates both the school and the villagers. Hope arrives with Varenka, an older woman described as “not a girl but marmalade,” who is unfazed by the prospect of marrying even a Greek teacher.
