Who is the top enforcer for the mob boss Vic?
Read the complete plot summary of Mad Dog Time, including all major events, twists, and the full ending explained in detail. Explore key characters, themes, hidden meanings, and everything you need to understand the story from beginning to end.
The story unfolds in a mysterious underworld of swanky nightclubs where Rat Pack tunes drift through neon-lit air and gunfights erupt from behind polished desks. Mickey Holliday is the top enforcer for Vic, the mob boss who is about to be released from a psychiatric facility. In Vic’s absence, Ben London has been running Vic’s nightclub, while Grace Everly(/actor/diane-lane) and Rita Everly—sisters and former loves of Vic—are drawn into a dangerous triangle that involves Mickey.
A rival, Jake Parker, recruits a band of hired guns to seize power. Mickey Holliday wastes no time, taking down Parker’s first challenger, Lee Turner. Parker’s next recruit, Nicholas Falco, billed as the fastest draw, murders Mickey’s close friend, Jules Flamingo, who is unarmed. A showdown is set, and Mickey eliminates Parker and the impostor Falco.
Vic returns to reclaim his throne and brings with him the “real” Falco, the previous one having been an impostor. Brass Balls Ben London promptly challenges Vic for control of the organization, even as he sings My Way on stage in the nightclub, a moment that underlines the flamboyant swagger of the underworld. Falco then proceeds to gun down the remaining opposition, including Wacky Jacky Jackson, and is eager to settle with Mickey Holliday once and for all.
Mickey tries to repair things with Rita, who is furious that he has been seeing her sister by day and her by night. He finally confesses to Grace that he has been seeing Rita during the day and Grace at night, while Grace also reveals that she is pregnant with Vic’s child. In a tense final confrontation held in a private office, Vic sides with his old friend, and Grace kills Falco. Vic and Mickey end up (apparently) living happily ever after with the Everly sisters.
