Gabriel Chavarria plays Danny Reyes, a talented but troubled graffiti artist whose bold colors splash across East L.A.’s walls, telling stories that mix personal grief with street pride. With his mother gone, his father Miguel Reyes Demián Bichir runs a family auto shop that builds the coveted lowriders at the heart of their Latino community, hoping Danny will join the family trade instead of chasing riskier artistic dreams.

Danny’s world takes a sharp turn when a bridge tagging leads to an arrest, and he’s bailed out as the consequences of his talent begin to collide with the responsibilities he’s expected to shoulder. The pressure drums on his relationship with his father, even as he navigates a fragile bond with his own ambitions and the memory of his mother.

Danny’s older brother, Theo Rossi as Ghost Reyes, returns from a long prison stint, carrying his own hurt and mistrust toward the family’s past—especially Miguel’s history with alcohol and his aloof treatment of his late wife. Ghost’s return rekindles old tensions but also stirs a shared fire: the brothers decide to enter their own car in the big Elysian Park lowrider competition, challenging the legendary “Green Poison” that has long defined their father’s legacy.

In the midst of these family rivalties, Danny finds a different outlet through a relationship with Lorelei, a young photographer who broadens his view of what graffiti can become. Melissa Benoist as Lorelei introduces him to new ways to frame his art, technique, and dreams, guiding him toward a broader audience and a deeper sense of purpose.

When Miguel’s car triumphs at the show, Ghost’s crew lashes out, targeting the family’s pride in a moment of reckless impulse. The confrontation escalates, and Miguel is shot, an injury that shocks the entire clan and forces Danny to confront the road his life has been traveling. Danny visits Miguel in the hospital, where he encounters a tearful stepmother who reveals the hard truth that his father needs to see him—now more than ever.

Following the upheaval, Danny commits himself to rebuilding something meaningful, naming a new lowrider after his mother: Marisol. He pours himself into fine-tuning this vehicle and preparing for the exclusive, invitation-only car show called El Chele, where the family hopes to redefine their legacy and prove that love, loyalty, and art can coexist with tradition. The journey tests each family member—Danny’s artistic drive, Miguel’s willingness to own the past, Ghost’s street-smart pragmatism, and Lorelei’s faith in second chances—yet the trials ultimately guide them toward a renewed sense of unity within the distinctive world of lowrider culture.
