Karthik, a dropout law student, is the troublesome son of Kumarasamy and Saraswathi. His hunger to question injustices often drags him into trouble, and even a complaint about the condition of his apartment spirals into a clash with his family when curious neighbors confront them, driving his father’s blood pressure higher. To pull him away from his patterns, his elder sister, Anandhi, ferries him to the strict, schedule-driven world of her in-laws in Ooty, hoping a change of scenery might steer him toward steadier choices.

Anandhi’s sister-in-law, Archana, steps in with a tentative plan to harness Karthik’s energy for something constructive. She lands him a job as a hospital bouncer, but the move backfires when he confronts a relative of a patient who is exploiting the elderly man’s wealth, and he is fired. Undeterred, Anandhi then secures him work as a physical training teacher at her school, only for him to clash with the school’s math teacher and get dismissed again. The family’s caretaker, Keshav, tries to steer the trouble toward therapy, arranging a psychiatric consultation with Dr. Phoenix Pushparaja. Sivagurunathan, the District Collector of Nilgiris, becomes involved, albeit in a way that minimizes direct conflict: he invites Karthik to observe, not to act, within the family. When Karthik witnesses the villagers of Pannaikadu protesting for electric fencing to shield themselves from wild animals, he can see the inaction that haunts the public space. He voices a bold, uncompromising stance, suggesting that the villagers could leverage a dramatic threat—self-immolation—to force action. This audacious suggestion pushes Sivagurunathan to accelerate the installation of the electric fencing, a move that quietly intensifies the already complicated family dynamics at home.

Tensions within the household reach a boiling point as the inmates demand Karthik’s expulsion. Anandhi pleads for him to apologize and stay, but Sivagurunathan, his wife, and his son Aravind IFS withdraw their tolerance and force them to leave with a modified sense of self-respect. Kumarasamy and Saraswathi absorb the fallout, blaming Karthik for destabilizing Anandhi’s life, and Kumarasamy even seeks forgiveness from Aravind, who rebuffs him. In a plot twist that alters the family landscape, a long-buried truth emerges: Karthik is adopted. In this moment of upheaval, Karthik offers his support, but Sivagurunathan refuses. On the way home, a group of thugs kidnap and assault him, yet Karthik arrives in time to rescue his benefactor. The rescuer’s courage catalyzes a transformation: Sivagurunathan sheds his air of superiority, accepts Karthik as his son-in-law, and consents to the marriage to Archana.
